Not All Heed the Good News

However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have;

“Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
And their words to the ends of the world.”

But I say, surely Israel did not know, did they? First Moses says,

“I will make you jealous by that which is not a nation,
By a nation without understanding will I anger you.”

And Isaiah is very bold and says,

“I was found by those who did not seek Me,
I became manifest to those who did not ask for Me.”

But as for Israel He says, “All the day long I have stretched out My hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.” (Romans 10:16-21 NASB1995)

Again, this is speaking of the Jews who were God’s chosen people under the Old Covenant. Most of them then, and most of them today have not believed in Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of their lives. And it isn’t that most of them had not heard the good news of the gospel of our salvation, or that they had not heard that God was going to extend his grace to the Gentiles, too, for they had. But it was that they were disobedient and obstinate people who would not yield control to God and to faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

And this speaks of many people today, as well, and not just of people who are Jews by physical birth, but of people of all nationalities. And this includes many people who profess faith in Jesus Christ, but it is lip service only. For they have not died with Christ to sin, and they are not walking in obedience to his commands, for they have convinced themselves that they don’t have to, because they are listening to “wolves in sheep’s clothing” who are telling them that they don’t have to die to sin and to obey God’s commandments.

And so they remain in their sins, in willful and deliberate defiance of God and of his commandments under the New Covenant. And they give themselves liberty to keep on in deliberate and habitual sin against God, and against other humans, claiming that God’s grace covers it all, and that their sins are all forgiven and so will not be held against them on the day of judgment. But they twist the Scriptures to their advantage to make them say what tickles itching ears while they ignore all the Scriptures they do not like.

But just because they ignore the teachings of the Scriptures which do not fit in with their chosen lifestyles, it does not nullify what they teach. And it will not change what God does, either. We can ignore all kinds of things we don’t like, but that doesn’t make them go away, and it doesn’t mean they don’t exist, and it doesn’t mean that we will not be impacted by them. So just because some people ignore the gospel taught by Jesus, that doesn’t mean that God will not judge them. He will! For he said that he would.

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.
