Sunshine Blogger Award

sunshineA big thanks to Katherine, who nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Katherine is a single mother from Nebraska. She has a heart for widows and for all people who need help, encouragement, hope, comfort, care and healing.

She is a survivor of many difficult situations that have been presented to her in her life, and she gives God all the praise and glory for his faithfulness and for his goodness to her in seeing her through them all. Katherine’s Blog

I am honored by this nomination, and I have decided to accept the award on the condition that all the glory goes to God! I would not be here doing what I am doing each day if the Lord had not saved me, healed me, prepared me, equipped me, and strengthened me for his service, as well as directed me each and every day as to what he has for me, his child, his servant, and one of his many voices in the world proclaiming his excellencies (1 Pet. 2:9).

The Questions Katherine asked me to answer are:

1 Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Sue Love. I am 68 years old, the mother of 4 grown children plus the mother-in-law of their 4 spouses. I am also a grandmother to 14 wonderful grandchildren, ages 3 months to 19 years old. I have been a believer in Jesus Christ since around age 7, and a Bible teacher since I was about the age of 16. I live with my husband of 45 years in Tennessee.

2 What would you say are the three best reasons you are a blogger?

God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – and his saving grace and his calling on my life.

3 What is your blog about?

The blog is about God, His Word and His Church. And, it is about how His Word is applied to our lives and world today. Its purpose is to proclaim the truths of scripture in very practical, understandable and applicable ways to our lives today. And, it is to encourage and strengthen our hearts to know God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – and to listen to him and to walk in his ways and in his truth, and to minister his love and his grace to others.

4 Tell us about your relationship with Jesus if you have one and if not why not.

Summer Camp
I’m the one in the middle.

When I was around the age of 7, at summer camp, I responded to the call to believe in Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of my life. I was growing up in a home where I was being abused by my dad and emotionally neglected by my mother, and I felt the weight of it all on my shoulders. So, I cried out to the Lord in my pain and suffering, repented of my sins, and I accepted him into my life. And, from that moment on I wanted to follow him with my life.

I took the Lord and his Word very seriously. I drank in his truths in church, in Bible study, in Sunday School or wherever I heard the Word taught. I also developed a close and intimate relationship with the Lord through my personal times with him in His Word and in prayer. And, I walked with him in the light of his love, going wherever he led me, and doing whatever he wanted me to do, for most of my life, though not perfectly.

Nonetheless, I am married to a lust addict, user and abuser, not unlike my dad. Rick and I have recently gone public with our individual stories, which you can read about here: So, this is public knowledge. Eventually he pushed me into getting involved with him in his world of sin for a period of time, although it was on again, off again. But, then the Lord delivered me from all that, never to go down that path again. Praise His name! And, a few years later he called me to this present ministry.

5 Do you have a bucket list to tell us about and if you do not what would you put on one?

I would like to see my unsaved loved ones come to faith in Jesus Christ, and I would like to see the church here in America revived and on fire for the Lord, and I would like to be able to fellowship with that revived church face to face before the Lord Jesus takes me home to be with him forever.

6 What is your favorite author and why?

Jesus Christ. Because He is The Way, The Truth and The Life. And, because His Word is the Word of Life which gives life to us all who will believe it and who will receive Jesus as Lord of our lives.

7 When you sit down to write a blog do you already have a subject in mind or do you just write the first thing that comes to your mind?

Run with it
My Times With God

Fourteen years ago this September, I was at a pastoral conference for those who were in Christian pastoral ministry in our area, within our church denomination. There the Lord spoke to me through Habakkuk 2:2-3. He said I was to write down on tablets what he teaches me, and then I was to give it to a herald who would “run with it” (the name of my blog).

I knew God was calling me to something new, but it wasn’t really until June of 2006 that I truly understood the extent of the calling. By then the Lord had me writing daily what he teaches me from my times with him each day in His Word. And, then I gave it to the herald (the internet) which then ran with it. My assignment from God was just to write what he taught me and to post it on the internet, and to let him take it from there, so that is what I have been doing since then.

So, I have no forethought whatsoever as to what is going to be written on my blog until the Lord gives it to me at that moment I sit down to write. He usually puts a Christian song in my mind first, some of which he has gifted me to write, and then he leads me to a passage of scripture, and then he guides me into what message he wants me to both receive and to share from it. I pray for his wisdom and guidance in what to say, and then I just write.

8 What’s your favorite thing to do?

My favorite thing to do is to be in the presence of my Lord listening to him speaking his Words to my heart and then following him in obedience.

9 What’s your least favorite thing to do?

Cleaning bathrooms, particularly toilets. 🙂

10 What is the biggest challenge you face in your life and if you do not wish to disclose this then tell us what your best challenge in life has been?

My biggest challenge is my marriage. My husband is quite open about his life of lust addiction and his abuses towards me. And, he was supportive in allowing me to share my story publicly to help others, like me, who are married to men struggling with lust addiction, and also for the purpose to help others who are dealing with addiction themselves, so this is no secret. We have had a troubled marriage from the get-go, and it is still not in good shape after nearly 46 years. I want to see my husband free and for our marriage to be healed, but every day is a challenge living with an addict.

Sue at CHTBut, God is good, all the time! He has allowed these situations in my life for his purposes and for his glory, in order to make me into the person he created me to be, to be used of him for his praise and for his glory in sharing the truths of his Word, and the hope of salvation to all who will listen.
