In the past couple of days, I and my blog, “Run With It,” were nominated for the “Blogger Recognition Award” by two different people. The first nomination came from Gail, and the second one came from Amy. So, I want to thank them both for this honor. Thank you, ladies!
But, I also want to give all the honor, glory and praise to God, for truly this is HIS blog, and I just write what he directs me to write and what he teaches me from His Word. So, all the glory and honor go to HIM, and not to me. I am just his servant, doing his bidding. So, this is truly HIS award, not mine.
My Story of how this blog got started
In 2004, following a time of revival in my life, I was reading my grandmother’s journals for the first time ever in my life. She died when I was 2 years old, so I never got to know her. But, she was a godly woman who loved the Lord and who grieved over the evil in the world and over the ungodliness she saw even among God’s people, his church.
When I started to read her journals, I began to weep. She expressed what was in my heart so well. She even quoted many of my favorite passages of scripture which had touched my life over many years. She even spoke like I do, using the same types of words and phrases. But, it was her love for the Lord that really touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes.
But, as I read through her journals, there was something she kept saying over and over again, with which I was unfamiliar. I wondered if she got the words out of a book, because she did make references to a devotional book she was reading, at the time. Nonetheless, eventually I discovered that she was quoting a passage of scripture:
Habakkuk 2:2-3 NIV
Then the Lord replied:
“Write down the revelation
and make it plain on tablets
so that a herald may run with it.
For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
it speaks of the end
and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
it will certainly come
and will not delay.
Within maybe two or three months of me receiving my grandmother’s journals, I went to a pastoral (Christian worker’s) conference, because my husband and I were involved in church planting, at the time. And, it was at that conference that I received this calling of God on my life to write down what the Lord teaches me from his word, and to put it on a tablet (my computer) and to give it to a herald (the internet), so that the herald could “Run With It,” which is the name of my blog (which is the Lord’s blog).
But, I was a novice at this. I didn’t even know where to begin. But, I began to search the internet for Christian sites where I could share what the Lord was teaching me, to the best of my understanding, and that is where I started, on several Christian-based discussion sites.
I began one blog in 2008, but gave up on it after about half a year because I was not getting much response at all, but then 2 years later the Lord encouraged me to start it up again, and I did. But, I still don’t hear much from anyone on there, but I do know people are reading it. So, I continued with it totally on faith, believing that God was taking it where he wanted it to go, and that he is using it in people’s lives for his glory.
Then, in 2012, someone volunteered to create a website for me where I could share the songs the Lord was giving me to write, and also the devotions, too. But, after a couple of years, the service provider for the site just disappeared from sight, and with it the website. But, in the meanwhile, the Lord led me to begin a WordPress blog, which is where I am now.
When I first started this blog, “Run With It,” I was not getting many responses on this one, either. One person, Hazel, continually put “likes” on my blog, and so daily I would pray, “Thank you, Lord, for “Pure Glory,” the name of Hazel’s blog.
And, then one day people started reading the blog more and responding, and I think a lot of that was due to me discovering the Christian blogging community and me reading other people’s blogs and responding to them. And, then, all of a sudden, I had a Christian family online to encourage me and for me to encourage them, and that has been awesome!!
And, so, at the end of this, I will acknowledge many of those people within the blogging community who have inspired me and encouraged me, too.
Advice to New (or to Old) Bloggers
First of all, I would say that, if you are a follower of Jesus Christ, that you should give your blog to the Lord, and let it be HIS blog, not yours. Let him decide what goes on your blog. Inquire of Him as to what you should write about, and let him guide your words. And, don’t do it for the praise of humans, but be willing to suffer persecution, if necessary, or rejection, for speaking the truths which God would have you to speak.
Secondly, I would advise you then to put the results of what God has you write in his hands, trusting that he will use it for his purposes and for his glory. Don’t worry about how people are going to respond, and don’t be looking for how many followers or “likes” you will receive as your measure of success. If you are being obedient to the Lord, then you are a success, whether or not anyone recognizes you or your work.
The Nominees
I want to thank all of my fellow bloggers for their love, their support, their “likes,” their comments, their words of encouragement, and for what they share on their own blogs in the way of encouraging and loving others.
But, my assignment here is that I select 15 or more bloggers for this award, so I am going to name only some of you who encourage me regularly with your blogs, and with your comments and “likes” on my blog. And, I am including the two who nominated “Run With It” for this award, as well.
I know that many of you have already been nominated for this award, so this is just another way to recognize you, and to let you know how much you are appreciated. For those of you who have not previously been nominated, you are under no obligation to accept this award. But, if you do, please notice the list of rules for the award following this list of nominees.
Thank you all! God bless you!! And, I am so glad you all are here.
The Rules
Thank the Blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

Thank you for the nomination, Sue, but I am in a period of mourning right now and would have difficulty writing about an award. But I do sincerely appreciate it.

Vicklea, I am so sorry to hear that. How can I pray for you right now?

Please pray for comfort. And I am not understanding why God decided that this was Barbara’s time to go home, but I trust Him through this struggle of faith. Thanks for your prayers. Her husband’s name is Bob and he fully expected to die first since he was recently diagnosed with cancer. The surgery that Barbara had was not supposed to be much, but she never recovered from it. So sad for her family especially.

I am so sorry! I had a best friend named “Barb” who died 20 years ago now from cancer. So, I understand. One of my sister-in-law’s just lost her sister to death under very similar circumstances as you describe here, and that was a shock to the family. It is so sad when someone dies, but especially when it is unexpected.
Praying for your comfort and for her family, as well. Praying for your peace, as well, and that you will be able to rest in the Lord through this.

Jess – thank you! Glory to God! I appreciate your kind and encouraging words. The story was supposed to be “brief,” but I don’t think that word is in my dictionary. 🙂 Honestly, I just wrote what the Lord led me to write, brief or not, and I am glad I did. Your comments encouraged me that I had written what God intended that I write. So, thanks, and God bless you, too.

Wow Sue. I just love your love and passion for God. Honestly I do! The story of how you started your blog is very powerful. I can trust your blog always for a good read. I love how you don’t do it for people to like but for Him to like – this is sadly rare. Well done for remaining unique.
Thanks also for nominating me. Unfortunately I no longer participate in blog nominations because I have too many to catch up with and because of time constraints. I hope you understand and you truly realise how honoured I am to know you here. Keep shinning for Christ as you continue to run with your vision. I love you❤️

Efua, Thank you, dear friend. You are so sweet! And, again, all glory to God! And, I do understand about the award nominations, too. I think I have only accepted 2 now, and I only do so if I feel the Holy Spirit prompting me to do so. They are very time consuming, as you say.
Thank you so much for all of your encouraging words. I appreciate them greatly. I love you, too. ❤

I guess I got caught up with the day after my birthday that I didn’t see this post. My dear Sue, you are such a blessing. When I started blogging, I didn’t think God will use it to draw others from around the globe into my little space, but the ones who have been so thoughtful to allow Him have come to mean much to me, and you, Sue, are one of them. Thanks for the nomination. I’m honoured.

Amazing you ask this. I just wrote the post where I accepted your nomination and I addressed that question 😊 It’s not. My name is Oluwatosin, Tosin for short. The blog is called Alethea’s Mind, named after my long awaited neice, Alethea, which means truth.

Truth’s Mind, yes. I hope when she grows up she’ll be able to read all the posts and learn a thing or two, by God’s grace.
My name ‘Oluwatosin’ tells a lot about what God created me for. It means God is worthy of worship. That’s all I aim for, to bring Him worship with all I am. Thanks for acknowledging it, Sue.
