Let Us Burst Their Bonds Apart

Psalms 2:1-3 ESV

“Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
‘Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.’”

Who is raging, and who is plotting, and who is rising up and taking their stand, and who is taking counsel together in this present age against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us”?

They are kings, queens, heads of state, CEOs of corporations, the wealthy elite, the World Health Organization, Big Pharma, the Bilderbergs, the Trilateral Commission, the Council on Foreign Relations, NATO, the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Economic Forum, the World Bank, the Federal Reserve, the entertainment industry, public education, the media, the institutional church, church denominations, the Jewish nation, and the US government and their allies, and so much more.

They are also individuals who do not believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. And they are those making false confessions of faith in Jesus Christ, and the adulterous church who has wandered far from her pure devotion to the Lord to follow after the ways of this sinful world, who is resisting the Holy Spirit, and who is denying the Lordship of Christ over her life, and who is refusing to obey God.

And they are all coming against the Lord and his “Anointed” (Jesus Christ and his followers, the body of Christ, his saints) in many different ways. Some are using deception and mind manipulation while others are using personal attacks and aggression, while others are using scare tactics and fearmongering, and others are using censorship and oppression, while others are turning Christians one against the other to destroy themselves.

For their goal is to steal, to kill, and to destroy the true church, the body of Christ, and the gospel of our salvation, and Jesus Christ and his influence over the minds and hearts of the people of this world. For they want all people to worship the beast and to unite with them in a One World Order where we all break down all that divides us as people and where we all join together as one mind, one voice, and one heart in worship of the beast.

Psalms 2:4-6 ESV

“He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
‘As for me, I have set my King
on Zion, my holy hill.’”

The Lord laughs at them because he knows that they plot in vain. They will be allowed some success, though, for the Scriptures teach us that the beast will conquer people and nations and the saints of God, and there will be great persecution against the saints of God, and many will be martyred for their walks of faith in Jesus and because they hold fast to the testimony of Christ and of his true gospel (Matt 24; Rev 12-14, etc.).

But they will not be able to destroy Jesus Christ, for He is God, nor his true saints, who are under His protection, nor his Word, the gospel, for his Word will endure forever. They may be able, for a time, to deceive many people, and to lead many people astray, and to convince many to desert Jesus Christ and his true gospel. But they will not be able to thwart God’s plans and purposes for his gospel of salvation and for the salvation of human souls.

For Jesus Christ is King overall and he cannot be defeated. Nothing happens in this world but what God allows it. No evil can exist nor can any evil plots against the Lord prevail in any form or fashion but what God permits it to exist and to take place. Satan can do nothing that God will not allow him to do (see book of Job). And when God/Jesus decides it is time to judge any nation or any people which fights against him, they have no chance!

God’s sovereignty over us is sometimes a difficult concept to understand because we know that God is love, and that he loves us, his people, and yet he allows evil to exist, and for evil people to do evil against us, because through it all he is pruning, shaping, disciplining, and making us into a holy people who will serve and obey him with our lives. He allows us to go through heartaches and hardships in order that we might share in his holiness and that we might be like him in heart, mind, and character.

But we can choose to accept his sovereignty over our lives and believe that he is working all things for good for those who love (and obey) him, who have been called according to his purpose. And we can submit to him and to that purpose. Or we can resist him and rebel against him. The first results in salvation from sin and eternal life with God, and peace with God. The latter results in death and not inheriting the kingdom of God, and eternal turmoil.

Psalms 2:10-12 ESV

“Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
be warned, O rulers of the earth.
Serve the Lord with fear,
and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son,
lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath is quickly kindled.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”

This really applies to everyone. For, if we choose to resist God’s Spirit, to deny the Lordship of Christ over our lives, to continue living in rebellion against the Lord and against his plans and purposes for our lives, it will not end well for any of us. So, we must serve (obey) the Lord with fear (with respect, dignity, honor, veneration, submission, repentance, and obedience).

We are to surrender our lives to Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and to honor him as Lord (master) of our lives. We must die with him to sin and live to him and to his righteousness. For Jesus died to deliver us out of our slavery to sin so that we would no longer live in slavery to sin but as slaves of God and of his righteousness. And we must walk in his ways and in his truth.

And we must submit to his sovereignty over our lives, trusting him fully with our lives in all circumstances, even when we don’t understand why he allows some things to happen to us the way that they do. For he never promised us an easy life. He promised it would be hard, and that it would be a life of suffering, and that we would be hated and persecuted for righteousness’ sake. So, it shouldn’t surprise us when we are mistreated.

And so we commit our lives to the Lord, we take refuge in him, we seek his counsel and his guidance and direction, and then we walk in his ways, and we do what he says, and we fulfill his purpose for which he created us, in the strength, power, and wisdom of God.

And we must not teeter-totter back and forth in our commitment to the Lord depending on our circumstances. We must remain steadfast in faith until the very end, by God’s grace. For, if we don’t, we will never be able to resist the beast, we will be easy targets for deception, and it will not end well for us.

For Our Nation

An Original Work / September 11, 2012

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: we’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.
