Micah 3:5-7 BSB (Berean Standard Bible)
5This is what the LORD says:
“As for the prophets
who lead My people astray,
who proclaim peace
while they chew with their teeth,
but declare war against one
who puts nothing in their mouths:
6Therefore night will come over you without visions,
and darkness without divination.
The sun will set on these prophets,
and the daylight will turn black over them.
7Then the seers will be ashamed
and the diviners will be disgraced.
They will all cover their mouths
because there is no answer from God.”
We have false prophets and teachers and preachers among us who are willfully and deliberately teaching lies to the people. They are saying to the people, “Peace, peace,” when there is no peace. They are telling them that a mere verbal confession of faith in the Lord Jesus will secure for them salvation from sin and eternal life with God, regardless of how they live or of how many sins they commit deliberately and habitually against the Lord. And they are leading the people straight to hell on the promise of heaven.
And then they speak lies against those of us who are teaching and speaking the truths of God’s Word to the people, who are teaching that God requires that we deny self, die to sin, and follow our Lord in obedience to His commands, as a matter of life practice, and that sin and disobedience to God must no longer be what we practice if we want to have salvation from sin and eternal life with God. And they claim we are teaching “works salvation,” and so many people are now turning to the lies and are rejecting the truth.
So, God will judge these liars and deceivers who are leading the people astray to a false gospel which does not require of them biblical repentance and obedience to God’s commands. Although, for a time, they are able to continue in their lies and in their deceptions, a day is coming when God will judge them for their evil deeds and they will no longer teach the lies. And hopefully some of them will repent of their evil deeds and they will turn to God in obedience and they will renounce the lies they once told the people.
Micah 3:8 BSB (Berean Standard Bible)
“8As for me, however, I am filled with power
by the Spirit of the LORD,
with justice and courage,
to declare to Jacob his transgression
and to Israel his sin.”
If we are true servants of the Lord Jesus Christ, and if we are following Him wherever He leads us in doing all that He commands us to do, as His followers, we should then be those who are empowered of the Spirit of God to speak the truth of the gospel of our salvation to the people. And we should have the courage and the determination to make certain that we are teaching them the truth, in its fulness, and that we are not cutting short the gospel message in order to not offend the people or to be rejected by them.
We need to be those empowered by the Spirit of God to speak the truth of the gospel as Jesus taught it, and as His New Testament apostles taught it, in its full context, willing to declare to the people their sins against God and God’s requirements of them that they must repent of (turn from) their sins to now obey God and His commands (New Covenant). We have to be more concerned about the people and where they will spend eternity than we are about what they will think of us or how we will get treated, in return.

My sheep hear me. They know me.
They listen to my voice and obey.
I call them and lead them.
They know my voice, so they follow me.
They will never follow strangers.
They will run away from them.
The voice of a stranger they know not;
They do not follow him.
So, I tell you the truth that
I am the gate, so you enter in.
Whoever does enter
Will find forgiveness and will be saved.
Nonetheless whoever enters
Not by the gate; other way,
He is the thief and a robber.
Listen not, the sheep to him.
Oh, I am the Good Shepherd,
Who laid his own life down for the sheep.
I know them. They know me.
They will live with me eternally.
The thief only comes to steal and
Kill and to destroy the church.
I have come to give you life that
You may have it to the full…
They know my voice, so they follow me.
