The Passion of Her Immorality

Revelation 18:1-5 BSB (Berean Standard Bible)

1After this I saw another angel descending from heaven with great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his glory. 2And he cried out in a mighty voice:

“Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great!
She has become a lair for demons
and a haunt for every unclean spirit,
every unclean bird,
and every detestable beast.
3All the nations have drunk the wine
of the passion of her immorality.
The kings of the earth were immoral with her,
and the merchants of the earth have grown wealthy
from the extravagance of her luxury.”
4Then I heard another voice from heaven say:
“Come out of her, My people,
so that you will not share in her sins
or contract any of her plagues.
5For her sins are piled up to heaven,
and God has remembered her iniquities.”

Babylon the Great

Who is Babylon the great? There are varied opinions and perspectives on this subject. I believe “Babylon” to be an ungodly and a worldly influence which is coming from people in positions of power and influence within the world, as a whole. But I also believe she has a physical location from which most of this influence stems and spreads throughout the world. And I believe that physical location is in the USA. For what physical nation in the world has the most influence and power over the other nations of the world?

“The United States has the most military bases throughout the world, operating roughly 750 to 887 foreign installations across about 80 countries and territories.” “The Department of Defense manages roughly 4,790 military sites worldwide.” And “the U.S. controls roughly 75% to 85% of all foreign military bases globally.” And “the US accounts for roughly 44% of NATO’s overall composite military capabilities.” (source: Google)

And what other physical nation in the world has been going throughout the world conquering one nation after another after another in nations such as Afghanistan, Tunisia, Egypt, Gaza Strip, West Bank, Turkey, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Yemen, Greece, Syria, Ukraine and Iran? And no one is stopping them yet. First they create a false flag scenario which then gives them the excuse to go into other nations in order to conquer them for the New World Order and to steal from them their natural resources and to kill their people.

Her Influence

But her influence is not coming just from the government. It is coming from the institutional market-driven “churches” in our nation, too, which have taken on her character and values. For, from the time I was a small child we were taught, both in the public schools and in the church gatherings, that we are to pledge our allegiance to our government, and that we are to sing patriotic songs of worship of our government, and that we are to honor our military as our heroes who are keeping us safe from “the bad guys.”

And her influence is multifaceted. It is a combination of church and government in one big package. For so much of what is being referred to today as “church” are these institutions of human origin which are partnered with the world and with the government in unholy unions, which God forbids, and they are turning their gatherings into businesses to be marketed to the people of the world, which God also forbids. And so many of them are teaching a false gospel which does not require repentance and obeying God.

[Matthew 21:12-13; John 2:13-17; Acts 5:27-32; 1 Corinthians 1:10-13; 1 Corinthians 3:1-9; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; Philippians 3:18-19; Revelation 2:1-29; Revelation 3:1-22; Revelation 13:5-8; Revelation 18:1-5]

Come Out of Her

So, if you live in the USA, and if you are still putting hand over heart and pledging (vowing) allegiance (fidelity) to the US government, please stop! We who believe in Jesus Christ are to give our worship to none other than God – Father, Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit. Yes, we are to obey our governing authorities unless they insist we disobey God. But we are not to vow our fidelity to an ungodly and immoral and wicked government. We, as the people of this nation, are to come out from underneath their influence.

And if your “church” is busy marketing your “church” to the world via entertaining them and via teaching a half-truth (lie) gospel which does not require that by faith in Jesus Christ we deny self, die to sin, and obey God’s commands in life practice, then this is a call for you to come out from among them, too, so that you do not share in her sins and in her punishment. For if your “church” is pacifying the people in their sins instead of calling them to repent and to obey God, you are to come out from among them.

For the Gospel Teaches

Jesus Christ taught that to come to Him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) Him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to His commands, in His power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls Him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

For by God-gifted faith in Jesus Christ, which is not of our own doing, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in Him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but as slaves to righteousness in walks of obedience to God’s commands. We are no longer to permit sin to reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires. For if sin is what we obey, it results in death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, it results in sanctification, and its end is eternal life with God (see Romans 6:1-23).

When I lift up my voice, and sing praise unto God,
I will fellowship with my Lord and Savior, King.
In Him there is no darkness. He is in the light of truth.
If we walk in His light, from sin He purifies.

If we repent of our sins, He’ll forgive us now,
When we humble ourselves, and before Jesus bow.
The man who says, “I know Him,” but does not obey His truth,
There is no truth in him. In darkness still he’s found.

Do not love the world of sin, for it is hell bound.
If you follow the world, you’ll not in Christ be found.
The world and its desires will not last; they’ll expire.
The one who does God’s will, receives eternal life.

See that what you have heard from Christ remains in you.
Then, you’ll remain in Christ, and in His Father, too.
This is what He promised us – His eternal life with God.
So, continue in Him, and you’ll receive a crown.
