Have Thine Own Way, Lord

Hymn lyrics by Adelaide A. Pollard, 1907
Music by George C. Stebbins, 1907

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Thou art the potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me after Thy will,
While I am waiting, yielded and still.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Search me and try me, Master, today!
Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just now,
As in Thy presence humbly I bow.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Wounded and weary, help me I pray!
Power, all power, surely is Thine!
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine!

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Hold o’er my being absolute sway.
Fill with Thy Spirit till all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me!

    • You are so welcome! Oh, this is one of my favorites. I can’t even begin to count the many times I have sung this back to the Lord in prayer, many times with tears streaming down my cheeks. So many times the Lord has brought this to my mind when I was praying about what to do about stuff going on in my life, and he was teaching me just to rest in Him, to trust him, and to let him work it all out.

      • Absolutely! The Lord speaks to me through songs all the time, especially when I don’t know what to pray, and he gives me what to pray. The hymns have always been a blessing in my life in encouraging me in my walk of faith and in inspiring me and in giving me just the right words to pray when I don’t even know where to begin. So, thank you, T.R., for sharing that with me. ❤

      • I just shared a song with you in another comment ❤ so many songs just move my heart and remind me to keep praising Him even when it hurt, and we can't see.
