The following is a poem the Lord just gave me to write on the subject of sufferings being a part of our lives which do not have to rob us of our joy, but which are for our good. I hope you will find it encouraging. Sue Love
There Is An Old Saying
There is an old saying, goes something like this,
That life as we know it is miseries filled.
Well, true to the Scriptures, we’re warned about this,
To not expect life to be filled with just bliss.
We’re told in the Scriptures that suff’rings will come,
That going through trials helps pride to be done.
But this is not happiness now to erase,
For blended with trials helps us to life face.
As Christians we need to be humbled at times
To keep us from sinning, and holiness find.
The trials are needed to get us to bear
The burdens of others whose suff’rings do wear.
So fear not the trials for suff’rings will come
To bring us to serving our Lord Christ, God’s Son.
But not let the trials to joy now erase,
But keep on rejoicing while running the race.
Repent of all sins and now follow our Lord,
The plans that He has for you, now be onboard.
Accept that the trials are now for our good,
So we walk in vict’ry, as all of us should.
Be thankful for God and His grace ev’ry day,
And leave all your sins, and our God now obey.
“Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” (Romans 5:3-4 Berean Standard Bible)
